TCU & Berry Street · A Short Drive Northwest

The rec center
has weights.
It does not have
a coach.

You can lift at the campus gym. What you cannot do there is get coached, train the HYROX stations, or walk into a room that notices when you stop showing up. That is ten minutes northwest on Camp Bowie, and the first class is free.

The Campus Gym Problem

Training around TCU?
This is probably you.

The TCU rec facilities are genuinely good for what they are. They are also the reason a lot of people stall out for four years.

You were a high school or college athlete. You had a coach, a team, and a season. Now you have a treadmill and a playlist, and it is not the same thing.
You lift with no plan because nobody is writing one. Some weeks are great. Most are whatever you feel like that day.
You want to try HYROX and there is nobody at the campus gym who has raced one, let alone coached somebody through a build.
You avoid long contracts because you might not be here over the summer, so you never commit to anything real.
The rec center at 5pm is a queue for a squat rack, and your actual free hour is a moving target around lectures.
You are around fit people constantly and still have nobody watching your reps or telling you the truth about your form.
You do not miss the gym. You miss being coached.

Most former athletes who walk in here are not out of shape. They are unstructured, and they are bored. A room with a coach, a plan and other people running the same build fixes both in about a week. Membership is month-to-month, so a semester is a perfectly normal amount of time to be here.

Your First Session

What actually happens
on day one.

No fitness test, no sales tour, no getting thrown to the wolves. Here's exactly how your free class goes.

01

You arrive ten minutes early

Park out front on Camp Bowie. A coach meets you, learns your goal, and walks you through the room before anything starts.

02

You train with the class

Not a watered-down intro. The real session, scaled to what you can do today. Every movement gets shown and every weight gets adjusted.

03

Nobody watches you struggle alone

A coach stays on you through the hour. If your form breaks down late, it gets fixed in the moment, not after.

04

You leave with no obligation

We talk about what you're chasing and what a build would look like. If it's not for you, we shake hands. No card was ever required.

One free class. No card.

If it isn't the best hour of training you've had this year, walk away — and keep whatever you learned about your pacing. Membership after that is month-to-month.

Real Questions

Students and staff
ask us this.

"I might leave for the summer. Am I stuck in a contract?"
No. Membership is month-to-month — no annual agreement, no cancellation script. Train the semester, stop for summer, come back in August if you want. That is a normal pattern here and nobody will make it awkward.
"Is there a student rate?"
Ask us directly — call or text (817) 710-4389 and we will tell you exactly what your options are, including drop-in rates from $25 if you only want a couple of sessions a week. We would rather quote you honestly than advertise a number that does not fit your situation.
"Why not just use the rec center?"
For general lifting, use it — it is free and it is right there. What it does not have is a coach on the floor every session, a plan that progresses instead of whatever you feel like, thirteen Worlds veterans to train beside, and a room that notices when you disappear for two weeks. If you already have those, you do not need us.
"I was a college athlete and I am nowhere near that shape now."
That describes a large share of this gym. Everything scales, and nobody here is comparing you to your eighteen-year-old self. What usually comes back fastest is not the fitness — it is having a reason to show up on a Tuesday.
"Do class times work around lectures?"
We run six days a week with early-morning and evening blocks specifically because most of our members work or study. The full schedule is here — find a slot that clears your timetable and book the free class into it.
"Is the first class actually free?"
Yes. One class, no card, no sales tour. If it is not for you we shake hands and you keep whatever you learned.
